A veteran police officer in Tulsa, Oklahoma is sounding a massive, loud alarm bell in the wake of calls from Left-wing extremists and the mainstream media to “abolish the police” in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

The bottom line is this: ‘Be careful what you ask for, America, because you just might get it.’

In an op-ed for LawOfficer.com titled, “America, We Are Leaving,” Maj. Travis Yates warned that morale is so low among police officers around the country and the political environment is becoming so hostile that cops everywhere are looking for the exits.

And, he says, we won’t like life in America much after the thin blue line collapses.

Yates writes:

This is the hardest thing I have written.

I grew up in a law enforcement family. My father worked his way up to the rank to Captain at the Ft. Smith (AR) Police Department. As I kid I remember going with him on Friday to pick up his check and I was in awe of these super heroes he worked around.

They were funny and fun to be around. Men and women of all races all with the same mission, to make the community safer.

He noted that he never really thought about being a police officer, but after going on a ride-along with an officer, Yates enrolled in college and earned a four-year college degree. He said his father wanted him to go somewhere his education would be utilized and appreciated, so he said he chose Tulsa and never looked back.

But over the past 27 years, things have changed in law enforcement. Big Time. And not for the better. That is, law enforcement has improved, but the politics of the country have gotten coarser, with the Left adopting a decidedly anti-cop attitude that is being spread by race-baiters, political hucksters, opportunists, and people who just want to see America burned
