There is a reason why Democrats in Congress are pushing so hard for hundreds of billions of dollars in bailout money for states in the next coronavirus ‘relief’ bill: Many of them are from blue states whose leaders have, for years, pursued and enacted policies that were fiscally irresponsible, leaving them flat broke or massively in debt.
Three states in particular – Illinois, New York, and California – have been particularly hard-hit financially, and they are reeling even worse after governors elected to shut down their economies, continuing the business-killing policy even as red states reopen without triggering a ‘second wave’ of COVID-19 death and destruction.
Illinois isn’t unique in demanding billions of bailout dollars from federal taxpayers. California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, pointing to a $54 billion budget deficit, is demanding a federal bailout, while New York’s Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, seeks nearly $62 billion.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has been only too happen to oblige her ideological soulmates. She recently proposed spending upwards of $1 trillion in tax money out of a $3 trillion ‘relief’ bill on states regardless of how badly they’ve mismanaged their own budgets for years.
If the bill passes the Senate – it narrowly made it in the House on a 208-199 vote – and President Trump decides to sign it, then $104 billion will go to those three states.
Passage isn’t even close to assured, however. Trump told the New York Post last week that those three states in particular have a history of budgetary mismanagement and he doesn’t think the country’s taxpayers should bail them out.
“You look at Illinois, you look at New York, look at California, you know, those three, there’s tremendous debt there, and many others,” he said while praising Florida and most states in the Midwest that aren’t in dire financial straits.
“I don’t think the Republicans want to be in a position where they bail out states that are, that have been mismanaged over a long period of time,” he said.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Democrats are using the coronavirus pandemic for maximum political value. In addition to pushing for a gargantuan payoff to their debt-riddled, Democrat-controlled states, they also are trying to scare voters into believing the can’t go to the polls in person in November because ‘coronavirus’ so we must now have a national mail-in ballot instead.
Which would lead to massive fraud.
