On Tuesday, Democrat 2020 Presidential frontrunner drew the ire of not only the Republican Party but Democrats as well, when he hailed two former Democrat colleagues whom he worked with in the 1970s, as politicians he could work with today. THE PROBLEM? Both men, Senators James O. Eastland of Mississippi and Herman Talmadge of Georgia are notorious racists and segregationists!

Joe Biden comments were made at a New York fundraiser of wealthy donors on Tuesday, where Biden stated…

“I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland. He never called me boy, he always called me son.”

It wasn’t the first time, Biden expressed admiration for James Eastland! In fact, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 2016 speech, Joe Biden said that he had fond memories of Eastland, who happens to have been a devout racist and segregationist Democrat, who once said…

“Those who would mix little children of both races in our schools are following an illegal, immoral, and sinful doctrine.”

Then, Biden turned his comments towards another racist and segregationist, when he said…

“a guy like Herman Talmadge, one of the meanest guys I ever knew, you go down the list of all these guys. Well guess what? At least there was some civility. We got things done. We didn’t agree on much of anything. We got things done. We got it finished. But today, you look at the other side and you’re the enemy. Not the opposition, the enemy. We don’t talk to each other anymore.”

Talmadge had denounced the Supreme Court decision to desegregate schools, stating…

“there aren’t enough troops in the whole United States to make the white people of this state send their children to school with colored children.”

Meanwhile, Eastland, repeatedly stated that he believed that black people were…

“an inferior race.”

Joe Biden had served with both men during his tenure in the Senate, and during a time when EVERY SENATOR WAS WHITE, EXCEPT ONE BLACK REPUBLICAN, Senator Edward Brooke

Katie Glueck in the New York Times noted that Eastland and Talmadge were totally unreconstructed defenders of Jim Crow and unabashed defenders of white supremacy, with no regrets for their beliefs or actions. Glueck stated that…

Mr. Eastland, a plantation owner, was known as a vociferous opponent of integration efforts and a staunch critic of the civil rights movement, which he sometimes dismissed as the work of “Communists.” Throughout his career he referred to African Americans as members of an “inferior race” and used the racist term “mongrelization.”

Mr. Talmadge was also a critic of the civil-rights movement and opposed the 1954 Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education, that declared racially segregated public schools unconstitutional.

Biden has a long history of anti-black, pro-segregationist friendships, including the segregationist Senator Strom Thurman, who was a Democrat for years, ran for President in 1948 as an Independent Segregationist, but later changed his party affiliation to Republican, but typically voted along Democrat Party lines! In fact, Thurman, who was touted as a truly Southern Democrat, who opposed the Republicans agenda by leading a record-setting filibuster to block the Civil Rights Act in 1957. He later softened his stance on civil rights issues but never fully renounced his racist positions! Ironically, Joe Biden delivered the eulogy at Thurmond’s funeral in 2003, as Biden called him a…

“brave man, who in the end made his choice and moved to the good side. We became good friends!”

In fact, the Washington Examiner reported that Biden…

lauded South Carolina Sen. Strom Thurmond — who Biden called “one of my closest friends” — and Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina, who Biden worked with on legislation to prevent court-ordered desegregation busing. He has also expressed admiration for Sens. John StennisJames O. Eastland and Herman Talmadge. He has even praised George Wallace, an Alabama governor and segregationist presidential candidate.

Biden’s friendship with Senator Jesse Helms has also been problematic, as Helms had filibustered a bill to make Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a federal holiday! Helms had stated during the filibuster that…

“The Negro cannot count forever on the kind of restraint that’s thus far left him free to clog the streets, disrupt traffic, and interfere with other men’s rights.”

Biden also called Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, who was a Ku Klux Klan recruiter “a dear friend”, despite his involvement with one of the most heinous and hate-driven organizations! Byrd also filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Regardless, Biden ended up giving the eulogy at Byrd’s funeral in 2010, calling the former Democrat Ku Klux Klan senator the…

“dean of the United States Senate” and “a dear friend.”

According to letters published by CNN, Biden was close friends with Stennis, the Mississippi senator who was a leading opponent of school desegregation and rejected the Supreme Court’s order to integrate classrooms. Furthermore, CNN revealed that in one of his letters in 1988, Biden told Stennis that he viewed him as a “hero” and was honored to move into his office after Stennis’ departure! Biden wrote about the segregationist…

“I have bittersweet feeling about moving into an office of such distinction. The bitterness relates to the knowledge that you will no longer be in the Senate and the sweetness to the knowledge that I will have a constant reminder of the man I viewed as a hero from the time. I sat next you at your conference table on my second day as a U.S. senator. You are a great man Senator Stennis and I will try to live up to the great and honorable tradition of the man who last occupied the office.”

Just a few years ago, at a 2017 Alabama rally, Joe Biden stated…

“Even in the days when I got [to the Senate], the Democratic Party still had seven or eight old-fashioned Democratic segregationists. You’d get up, and you’d argue like the devil with them. Then you’d go down and have lunch or dinner together. The political system worked. We were divided on issues, but the political system worked.”

Current Affairs reported the history of Biden’s own segregationist past, as they noted that…

Biden also voted for the “Byrd amendment,” which prevented the Health, Education, and Welfare Department (HEW) from using any funds, directly or indirectly, for integration by busing. That amendment passed, and mostly caused the Ford administration to stand down on HEW-promoted integration.

The Current Affairs article added…

After taking office in 1977, the Carter administration found creative ways to get around the Byrd amendment and fund integration. The administration’s Justice Department also redoubled its push for court orders requiring desegregation by busing. This angered congressional segregationists. And also Biden. In response, Biden and his Delaware colleague co-sponsored the “Biden-Roth” amendment to prevent federal courts from ordering widespread busing. The most important section of the bill required judges to tailor their court orders to remedy only the adverse effects of existing segregation, i.e. it prevented judges from ordering wider busing to achieve actually-integrated districts. This effort failed, narrowly.

Another Biden initiative, though, was wildly successfully, playing an under-appreciated role in ending the short era of large-scale federal desegregation. When it came time to fund HEW for 1978, Biden and Missouri Sen. Thomas Eagleton—another “liberal,” who had briefly been the Democrats 1972 vice presidential nominee—introduced their own revised version of the Byrd Amendment. In this amendment, Biden specifically called out and blocked almost every method HEW was using to desegregate schools—including grade reorganization, pairing, and clustering. Attempts to delete this language from the funding bill failed, and Carter officials grudgingly accepted the new restrictions

In the end, Joe Biden worked to recast himself as a champion of Civil Rights, despite his long and checkered past of hate, racism, and discrimination! Biden has worked hard to hide his racist past, as nobody in his Party or the Mainstream Media dares to talk about the discriminating Helms-Collins Segregationist Amendment, or his close working relationship with Jesse Helms, and countless other segregationists friendships during his tenure in the Senate!

Today, Joe Biden has a history of racism, hate, and bigotry, as well a history of making stuff up! One might even expect him to have been given a nickname like, flip-flop Joe, as he is well-known for sticking his finger up in the air, to see which direction the political winds of public opinion are blowing from one day to the next! However, it is hard to fathom, just how a man who has dedicated his life to diminish the lives of minorities, and then spending the subsequent years covering that history up, for his own political and Elitist aims, let alone how he could ever be elected President!

Biden may try to claim that he is a changed man, but based on his words this week, his checkered past, and his well-known character of lying to the American people, simply to garner their vote, I find it highly unlikely, that his beliefs, morals, and character, are any different than the ‘SEGREGATION JOE’ of America’s past!
