General Motors CEO Mary Barra had recently announced the closure of an auto manufacturing plant in Lordstown Ohio.  Barra is a good friend and ally of President Obama, Joe Biden, and those within the former Obama Administration. The company blamed the (UAW) United Auto Workers for the closure of the plant, and the laying off of more than 8,000 American workers!

According to GM and the UAW, the negotiations detailed how union workers were willing to accept nearly $120 million a year in concessions, which is exactly what GM said they wanted to keep the plant open. However, Barra pushed forward the plans to close the Lordstown Plant! As a result, it led to the immediate layoff of more than 1600 workers in Lordstown!

Meanwhile, in order to save face amongst the public relations nightmare, Barra promised a $700 million investment by GM in Toledo, Parma, and Moraine, which Barra said would create 450 jobs in Ohio, even though it would be a net loss of workers by a three to one ration!

President Trump publicly slammed Barra and GM executives for closing the Lordstown plant, siding with the UAW and laid off American workers. He said…

President Trump demanded that Barra sell the Lordstown plant to keep jobs in the small Ohio community, but it seemed that GM and Barra wouldn’t budge! Lordstown workers told the New York Times of their hardships. For example, Jonathan Achey said…

“My whole life has been General Motors. I have 28 years invested in the company that is doing this to me … But it’s hard when you see money going to other places when you see CEOs making the money they’re making. Do I feel like I got slapped in the face? Absolutely. It definitely feels like a smack in the face.”

Now, following continual pressure from President Trump, it appears that an Ohio town has been saved from its plant closing and massive job losses. In fact, after GM had indicated that they were to close the plant and move overseas, GM has now announced that it plans to sell the Ohio plant to an electric automaker…

It was welcomed the news, as thousands of workers jobs were saved, despite General Motors choosing to offshore jobs to foreigners, rather than their American workers!

General Motors CEO Mary Barra announced that she is planning to sell the Lordstown, Ohio assembly plant to an electric automaker after laying off about 1,600 American workers this year at the factory. The announcement came after reports indicated that President trump had been working behind the scenes to get GM to sell the Lordstown Plant to another manufacturer, in order to save jobs, and prevent economic blight in Lordstown Ohio!

President Trump posted on Twitter about the revelation, as GM also announced that the selling of the plant to Workhorse Group Inc. would they said would…

“bring significant production and electric vehicle assembly jobs to the plant.”

Currently, once the plant is able to open, Workhorse Founder Steve Burns said that…

“The first vehicle we would plan to build if we were to purchase the Lordstown Complex would be a commercial electric pickup, blending Workhorse’s technology with Lordstown’s manufacturing expertise.”

Sadly, the fight to protect American workers is far from over, as GM is still looking to manufacture their new electric Cadillac in China and continue manufacturing its Envision compact vehicle in China. Also, they plan to continue manufacturing their  American sold Chevrolet Blazer in Mexico! Even more frustrating, is the fact that GM continues to receive federal tax dollars from the taxpayers throughout America, all while they continue to cut jobs and pay across our great nation! Furthermore, GM executives like Barra have taken a very slight pay cut like 4%, while their workers suffer, lose their jobs, and fight to support their families!
