On Saturday, Jilian Castro (D-TX) announced his 2020 Presidential bid. He is now the third Democrat to throw his hat in the ring, after Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), and now Castro, who is the former United States Housing and Urban Development Secretary under Barack Obama, as well as the former Mayor of San Antonio, Texas! He announced on Saturday that…

“You see, I learned from my mother so many years ago in this community that when we want change, we don’t wait for change. We work for it. When my grandmother got here almost 100 years ago, I am sure she never could have imagined that just two generations later, one of her grandsons would be serving as a member of the United States Congress and the other would be standing here with you today to say these words — I am a candidate for President of the United States of America.”

However, the 44-year-old Democrat has already come under fire for his socialist and communist goals for the United States. For example, over the last week, he agreed with the radically left-wing Alexandria Ocasio Cortez who has openly called for the implementation of income taxes at an outlandish rate of 75%, which would make it one of the largest confiscations of American’s income in United States history, as well as the fact that it would leave little incentive for middle and lower income Americans to strive for upward mobility and the American dream!

Then, Castro went even further and called for an even greater confiscation of wealth from Americans. Castro actually called for a tax rate of 90%, leaving little for Americans to survive on a mere pittance of what they actually earned.

Castro said on the ABC News program “This Week”  in regards to Cortez’ proposed tax rate that…

“Oh, I can support folks at the top paying their fair share.”

After taking heat over her communist and socialist based ideals, Cortez defended her position that Americans who have worked their way up to the American dream of becoming millionaires by making $10 million in income should only be able to keep less than $2.5 million, while the government takes at $7.5 million in federal taxes, not to mention state, local, or other taxes imposed on their remaining earnings.

Castro defended Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez but added that 75% isn’t enough and said it should be 90%. Therefore, under Cortez’ leadership, the government would take $9 million of an Americans earned income, leaving the American citizen with less than $1 million, especially as other taxes would spike due to the Progressive agenda. Somehow, that doesn’t seem like a ‘fair share’ as Castro and Ocasio Cortez claim!

In offering support to Ocasio-Cortez, Castro provided historical context given the current highest marginal income tax bracket is 37 percent for those receiving more than $500,000 a year.

Castro defended his and Ocasio-Cortez’ position by stating…

“There was a time in this country where the top marginal tax rate was over 90 percent, even during Reagan’s era in the 1980s it was around 50 percent.”

Castro not only called for the confiscation of American wealth by the Federal Government, but he also called for the confiscation of corporate wealth, as he has called for the government takeover of the healthcare industry, as well as, education and other sectors. Castro said…

“that we get more serious about making sure the corporations pay their fair share.”

He says that the government confiscation of American wealth and corporate wealth would help provide the $Trillions needed to pay for “Medicare-for-All”, and Universal pre-kindergarten and higher education programs. He said…

“During this campaign, if I run, I’m going to be very up front with the American people on how we would do that because I think that they are owed that, but it is worth it. It is worth it in this country for us to do that.”

Castro went on to say that he would not be a…

“single issue candidate.”

Instead, Castro has indicated that he would implement one of the most broad-reaching and sweeping socialist agendas, as the government would reach into every aspect of Americans lives, take over the economy, de-privatize the business world and markets, and confiscate wealth on an unprecedented basis. Castro has not indicated how he would tax the middle and lower classes, but all indications and his past comments point to the fact that taxes would rocket upwards at unprecedented rates, leaving Americans with little of their income for themselves, government control over their jobs, healthcare, energy resources, and countless other areas, and only remnants of the Constitutional Republic that was established by our Founding Fathers!
