As a conservative, constitutionalist, and proponent of free trade, I have always believed that tariffs, or any form of government intervention in the free market is not only an unwise decision, but a huge mistake. However, through the evolution of world economics, and as the nations of the world have had their economies fused together, they have likewise become dependent upon one another for the basic survival of our national interests, conservative thought has had to change as well.

In fact, before our nation melded with other nations into a global economy, economists didn’t have to be concerned about China, or other nations, who utilize the idea of ‘free trade’ as a weapon against honest trading partners around the globe. For decades, the United States has allowed China to commit intellectual thievery against our own inventors, scientists, tech companies, and manufacturers. Our leadership has permitted China to levy massive tariffs against our farmers, manufacturer, businesses, and the American workers. As a result, the American consumers have paid the cost in their pocketbooks. To make matters worse, China has used currency manipulation against the United States, as a method to make their products cheaper, and to incentivize Americans to buy Chinese products over those Made in America. Top that with the fact that they steal our countries products, and then manufacture cheap knock offs to rob American innovation and profits. Regardless, President after President, Legislator after Legislator, all promised to reign in the out-of-control Chinese regime, but when push came to shove, each and every one, simply took a back seat and not only allowed, but enabled the Chinese crimes against the American people.

Now, we finally have a President who is not only willing to claim he will fight against the Chinese corruption, but he is willing to act on those claims. In all, it is called leadership! Leadership that has brought on a whirlwind of attacks, primarily from the Progressives in Washington, around the country, and the world, but even from some ‘free market’ conservatives. Regardless of the substantial criticisms he received from across America, President Trump did the unpopular action….TARIFFS! However, as the tariffs went into effect, and as his critics lambasted his action as reckless, the tariffs began to have a positive affect on not only the American economy, but American businesses, manufacturers, factories, and the American workers.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a strong believer in the free market, and against tariffs. However, as times have changed, the rules have changed, and the world economic stage has become so far out-of-balance, that virtually every country takes advantage of the United States, and the American worker. In fact, we have foreign countries levying massive tariffs against American goods, and the American workers, while America has refused to counter those tariffs and taxes… in the name of ‘free trade’.  Ironically, is it really free trade when one country levies massive taxes (tariffs), and is it anti-free trade for the opposing country refuses to counter the levies to rebalance the scales, and remove the incentive for foreign countries to levy those taxes against American made products? The answer….BLATANTLY NO! In fact, it is quite a stretch of the truth for President Trump’s critics to claim that he is turning his back on the conservative concept of ‘free trade’. Instead, the President is acting as the protector of the American worker, the American economy, and putting American’s interests in the forefront of his trade policies. Furthermore, President Trump was renegotiating NAFTA with Canada and Mexico, when the President said…

“The United States has been taken advantage of for many decades on trade. Those days are over.”

He also went on to say that…

“You want a tariff free. You want no barriers. And you want no subsidies. Because you have some cases where countries are subsidizing industries and that’s not fair.”

Therefore, although President Trump has countered foreign countries tariffs that have been levied against America, his ultimate goal is to re-level the world economic stage, so that it is fair for everyone, including Americans!

Now, as President Trump has elevated his pressure to re-balance trade with foreign nations, communist China is working to influence the 2018 midterm elections, with anti-tariff films that are targeting Republican districts, especially in pro-Socialist California. In fact, they have produced a propaganda video that focuses on the hardships of California farmers, and chalk it up to President Trump’s tariff policies that are targeting…WAIT FOR IT……..CHINA!

The Communist State owned television network known as “Chinese Global Television Network” (CGTN) released a video  depicting an almond that is complaining that:
“President Donald Trump has started a trade war against China. In retaliation, China has enacted a 50-percent combined tax on me, my friend pistachio, and other classic California produce.”

In essence, China is producing anti-Trump, anti-Tariff propaganda films to affect the 2018 midterms, as they target pro-Trump, pro-Republican districts. Their aim is to unseat Republican leadership, and especially those who support President Trump, and his policies. 
The film alleges that California farmers have been neglected, and despite getting financial relief from Trump, they are angry with his policies, and want so-called free trade, despite the Chinese tariffs imposed against the American farmers. 
The video goes on to say that unfortunately, with neither trade nor aid, California now stands to lose the most in this escalating trade war. The Chinese video says…
“Tell me, do you want all those fruits, nuts, and veggies to pile up and rot simply because President Trump is killing trade at the expense of the many?”

Regardless of the Democrats attacks, and initiating the ‘Mueller Probe’ on the Russians for using the very same ‘disinformation campaigns’ against candidates in the 2016 election, those very same Democrats  are not only silent on the Chinese propaganda war on our American election process, but they are embracing and pushing the propaganda themselves. On August 19th the United States National Security Advisor John Bolton pointed to China, North Korea, and Iran as meddler’s in American elections. Regardless, the Democrats refuse to acknowledge the Chinese interference, and instead point to Russia, regardless of the facts and evidence. President Trump said…
“All of the fools that are so focused on looking only at Russia should start also looking in another direction, China.”

“I can say definitively that it’s a sufficient national security concern about Chinese meddling, Iranian meddling, and North Korean meddling that we’re taking steps to try to prevent it.”

Now, new information has surfaced that shows that Chinese President Xi Jinping is facing a backlash from his party leadership over his inability to deal with President Trump effectively. Reuters News reported that:
“a growing trade war with the United States is causing rifts within China’s Communist Party President Xi Jinping, although he still has a firm grip on power, but an unusual surge of criticism about economic policy and how the government has handled the trade war has revealed rare cracks in the ruling Communist Party. There is a growing feeling within the Chinese government that the outlook for China has “become grim”, according to a government policy advisor, following the deterioration in relations between China and the United States over trade. The advisor requested anonymity.
Those feelings are also shared by other influential voices.
“Many economists and intellectuals are upset about China’s trade war policies,” an academic at a Chinese policy think tank told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue. “The overarching view is that China’s current stance has been too hard-line and the leadership has clearly misjudged the situation.”

Ironically, just a year ago, the Chinese Elites believed that China would be able to win the trade war against the United States, but now, many of those Elites believe that President Trump has the upper hand, and is winning. 
Reuters also pointed out that the Chinese officials also misread the President when they met with him in May. They reported that China believed that the Democrats ‘Resistance’ to Trump’s presidency would create major political rifts, and tie the Presidents ability to impose his tariffs or any other major policies in the United States effectively. In fact, they believed that the President would fold under the immense pressure from the Progressive-left. However, the Chinese officials misread President Trump, and his ability to counter the resistance. Now, indications point to the fact that the Chinese Communist leadership in Beijing is buckling, and will send a delegation to Washington D.C. to work out an end to the trade war between the United States and China. The meeting would normally involve lower-level Chinese officials, but instead are sending high-level party officials. 
Now, as China hopes to stave off a worsening trade war with the United States, and a declining economy, they will meet with the American delegation over the next week. If they fail, the Trump Administration is set to potentially level even greater tariffs against the rogue nation.
In all, the Chinese are amazed by President Trump’s ‘skill as a tactician and strategist’. In fact, the Financial Times reported that on a recent trip to China, a number of Chinese political leadership said that…
“Mr Trump is the first United States president for more than 40 years to bash China on three fronts simultaneously: trade, military and ideology.”

The Chinese see Trump as rejecting the idea that U.S. leaders should be managing the relative decline of the U.S.. The Financial Times reported…
They think Mr Trump feels he is presiding over the relative decline of his great nation. It is not that the current order does not benefit the US. The problem is that it benefits others more in relative terms. To make things worse the US is investing billions of dollars and a fair amount of blood in supporting the very alliances and international institutions that are constraining America and facilitating China’s rise. In Chinese eyes, Mr Trump’s response is a form of “creative destruction”. He is systematically destroying the existing institutions — from the World Trade Organization and the North American Free Trade Agreement to Nato and the Iran nuclear deal — as a first step towards renegotiating the world order on terms more favorable to Washington. Once the order is destroyed, the Chinese elite believes, Mr Trump will move to stage two: renegotiating America’s relationship with other powers. Because the US is still the most powerful country in the world, he will be able to negotiate with other countries from a position of strength if it deals with them one at a time rather than through multilateral institutions that empower the weak, at the expense of the strong.
The Financial Times also points out that many Chinese believe that their leadership needs to re-think their strategy with the United States, because President Trump is out-smarting them, out-thinking them, and out-performing them on the world economic stage. 
Ironically, they are 100% correct, in their assumption that the President believes that he is presiding over a faltering American economy. Thankfully, President Trump is re-aligning American foreign policy, political policies, and economic policies with not only China, but on the world stage. He is destroying the international institutions that have crippled American interests and businesses, and is re-establishing America as a global Superpower once again. The President took the first step in pushing through the economic tax cuts, which put gas on the fire of the American economic engine, and is now using that strength and power to re-negotiate the vast numbers of bad deals like NAFTA, and other trade deals that have persecuted the American workers, American farmers, and the American economy. He has put the World Trade Organization (WTO) on notice for their anti-American policies, and has ended the Iran Nuclear Deal, which put American interests at grave risk, as well as, America’s and the world’s economic future.
In the end, President Trump is working from his position of strength, and re-establishing fruitful relationships with foreign powers and dignitaries, as those around the globe grow ever-increasingly concerned that his policies will diminish and destroy the power that they once had over the United States of America. Furthermore, they are rightfully concerned, as the President ends the globalist multilateral institutions that take wealth from America, and enrich the Globalist Elites, and empower the weak at the expense of strong nations like the United States, and those in America who have suffered for decades under the One-World globalist leadership in Washington D.C..
